About the Essex Garden Club Scholarship Program

The Essex Garden Club Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors and local students currently enrolled in accredited colleges, universities, or other accredited educational institutions. The program seeks to recognize and support students who demonstrate strong academic commitment, leadership, teamwork, and meaningful engagement within their schools and communities. Students who are permanent residents of Essex, Ivoryton, Centerbrook, Chester, or Deep River are eligible to apply.

Scholarships are typically awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 and are intended to supplement educational expenses at accredited two-year or four-year colleges, universities, or other post-secondary educational institutions. Scholarship funds will be distributed directly to the educational institution selected by the applicant and are intended to support tuition, learning materials, housing, and other fees.

The Essex Garden Club recognizes that caring for the environment and preserving the natural beauty of our communities requires knowledge and expertise from many fields of study. The Scholarship Selection Committee encourages applicants who are pursuing a wide range of majors and minors both directly and indirectly relevant to our mission which focuses on environmental stewardship, sustainability, and the conservation of natural resources in our communities.

The Essex Garden Club's Scholarship Program is made possible through the Club's annual fundraising efforts and the generous support of donors, grantors, and community partners. This priority program reflects the Club's enduring commitment to investing in the education of our local youth and fostering a future shaped by informed, engaged, and environmentally conscious citizens.
